Dr. des. Bianca Herlo

Bianca has been working at the Design Research Lab on participatory design projects, transdisciplinary and collaborative settings and on the conceptualization of a socially oriented Living Lab approach, at the intersection of the three dimensions local actors, urban narratives and transformative tools, civic tech. She is head of the research group Civic Infrastructures, where she focuses on social design, narrative design strategies and collective action.

Bianca studied communication in social and economic contexts with focus on audio-visual communication new media at the Berlin University of the Arts. She did her PhD on narrative strategies and the representation of memory in biographical documentaries. Since 2013 is a lecturer in design theory and design research. Since 2014, she has been a board member of the German Society for Design Theory and Research (DGTF).
